We help athletes find their next pair of athletic shoes.
How we test shoes
- We buy all shoes with our own money
- We wear test all shoes
- We cut all shoes in half
In this process, we measure and compare more than 30 metrics on each shoe, doing our best to quantify shoe reviews. Given the amount of running, hiking, weightlifting, etc., needed for these tests, it’s imperative to work with people that are very passionate about their sport. Fortunately, we have a perfect team of shoe nerds onboard who add their personal opinion from their wear-testing which adds nuance to our lab tests. You'll find our full methodology explained here.
Brands are dictators
We are tired of [insert brand name] spending billions to promote lousy shoes. The marketing budgets of brands increasingly dictate what products are popular. The power of such budgets is not rightfully put.
This is why we have shifted our focus to the objectivity of the reviews completely. There’s nothing more objective than the lab tests. We do still test the shoes on our own, so that we can point out the nuances that the lab tests might not be able to cover.
Popups are disgusting
Most websites spam you with popups of competitions for you to win something - all you ever win is a weekly promotional email asking you to buy, buy, buy.
We are users ourselves, and just as annoyed as you are. Here, you are free.
How we make money and how to support us
If you click to the retailer and you buy the shoe, we get an affiliate commission of the sale. This is how we pay ourselves. It does not make the shoe pricier for you. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
Most importantly - radical transparency
The internet is filled with "experts" doing reviews of shoes they have never even seen in real life, websites promoting "see best deal on [insert shop name]" (when in fact they only show you the offer which earns them the best commission), or websites making guides to the "best [category of shoes]" which are really just lists of the most popular products that earn them the best commissions.
We're the opposite.
All the shoe reviews found on our website are written based on the experiences of people who actually tested that shoe.
We always show you the best price across 200+ retailers with the only exception being when the best price of a specific shop has many dissatisfied users (in which case we do not show it as the first offer, but do include it later down the list).
And finally, our buying guides for the best running shoes or best hiking boots contain the shoes that have been hand-picked by our experts while taking into account both our experience with the shoe and the voice of the community. Not by what makes us money.
Meet the shoe fanatics
We are a small team of geeks that work location independent from the US and 10 other countries. If you love athletic shoes and what we stand for, come join us.
Initially, we focused on running shoes - today we also collate reviews of hiking shoes, boots & sandals, sneakers, training shoes, walking shoes, tennis shoes, and basketball shoes.

Boring, but necessary stuff:
Oh, and please remember… Don’t buy new shoes unless your current ones are worn out. Sport is more than a pair of new shoes.
